What is wellbeing

Wellbeing is about how you’re feeling now and what you can do to help you live your life the way you want to.

It doesn’t mean feeling happy all the time. It does mean having strategies and support to get through tougher times.

Looking after your wellbeing can be good for both your physical and mental health.

What is 'Wellbeing Matters'?

Wellbeing Matters is a staff support service, to improve staff mental health and wellbeing, run by Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation trust.

We offer free, fast and confidential psychological support for all health and social care staff, if you live or work in Berkshire.

How we differ from other Wellbeing support

  • We will keep it confidential
  • A quick assessment, so you won't have a long wait
  • Fast referrals to a wide range of psychological support, including wellbeing coaches and mental health care
  • We work in healthcare too, so we understand the pressures and want to look after you
  • We can offer you support in nearby trusts instead of Berkshire if you prefer
  • We'll follow up with you later, to check how you're getting on

Why should you contact Wellbeing Matters?

Working and caring for others in healthcare as part of the NHS or in social care can mean facing difficult experiences of our own. This can affect our wellbeing at work and at home, as well as our mental health.

The COVID-19 pandemic added to these pressures for many of us, with distressing experiences at work, challenging workloads and people suffering illness and bereavement. This has been followed by most restrictions ending, but health and social care teams still managing the knock on effects and heavy workloads. The cost of living crisis is making life harder for many, while worrying news headlines from home and around the world continue.

We know people working in health and social care have had an incredibly tough time, but don't always find it easy to ask for help for themselves.

We all do better when we feel safe, well and supported. Without you, we don't have a health and social care service. So, if you need us, we're here for you.
